Eligibility Criteria
Nationality & Domicile:
To apply, you must be an Indian citizen and a permanent resident of Assam. After the final selection, proof of residency is required for all candidates except those from SC, ST, and OBC/MOBC categories.
Age Limit (as on 01-01-2026):
- Sub-Officer: 20 to 24 years
- Forester Grade-I, Forest Guard, Game Watcher, Constable (Grade-III), Bandman, and Bugler: 18 to 40 years
- AFPF Constable, Constable (WO/WT), Constable (UB), Fireman, Emergency Rescuer, and Boatman: 18 to 25 years
SC/ST (5 years), OBC/MOBC (3 years), qualified Home Guards (3 years for APRO Constables), and ex-servicemen (2 years for certain posts) can all get a break in age.
Educational Qualification:
- Forester Grade-I: Bachelor’s Degree
- Sub-Officer & Constable (WO/WT): H.S. (Science) with PCM
- Fireman & Emergency Rescuer: H.S. (Science)
- Forest Guard, Game Watcher, Constable (UB): H.S. (10+2)
- AFPF Constable, Constable (Grade-III), Bandman, Bugler: HSLC
- Boatman: HSLC with swimming proficiency
Additional mandatory qualifications, such as NCC/Home Guard certificates and instrument proficiency, apply to certain posts as specified in the notification.
Selection Process

- 40 points for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Medical Examination
- Physical Standard Test (PST)—a test to see if you qualify
- Written Examination
- Forester Grade I receives 100 points.
- 50 points for other posts
- Walking Test (Forester Grade I, Forest Guard, Game Watcher)
- Oral/Viva Voce: 5 points
- 10 points for the Trade Proficiency Test (Bandman & Bugler) and the Swimming & Boating Test (Boatman)
The final merit lists are based on the overall number of points earned, with age and height used to break ties.
